Nature Specialist and Program Coordinator
Cindy lives in Church Rock, New Mexico. She attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and majored in Elementary Education. Cindy's interests include crocheting, bowling, and baking. In 2015, she coached Cross Country. Cindy is returning to camp for her second summer and is excited to see returning campers and meet all the new ones!
Valerie lives in Crownpoint, NM and is back at SYC for her second summer! She has worked at Mariano Lake Community School for two years as a homeliving assistant and has three children of her own. Her passion is working with children.
Sierra is from Gallup, New Mexico and recently graduated from Gallup High School. She competed in track all four years of high school. She is interested in Culinary Arts. She will be going to school in Denver, CO to major in Dietetics and Applied Nutrition with a double major in Culinary Arts. She loves all animals, but cats are her favorite!
Sam attends the University of New Mexico and is currently studying Architecture and Construction Technology. She’s from Crownpoint, NM but lives in Gallup. When she isn’t busy Sam enjoys basketball, volleyball, reading, and running. This is her second summer at SYC, and she can’t wait to see what camp has in store this year!
Troy Etsitty is 18 years old and recently graduated from Gallup High School. He likes fun activities such as playing basketball, hiking, and enjoying whatever he encounters. This is his first summer at SYC and he hopes it will be a lot of FUN!
Leah taught on Navajo Nation for five years. She grew up in Chicago, but feels at home in the Land of Enchantment. Leah is an avid reader and loves the outdoors. She is excited to share a third season of camp with new and returning campers!
Israel graduated from Thoreau High School and attends Grand Canyon University. He has volunteered at the Thoreau Community Center and Broken Arrow Bible Ranch. Israel loves to be active outside, whether it’s sports or camping/hiking. He also enjoys playing the guitar and singing, and is always friendly when meeting someone new!
Krystin hails from Yahtahey, NM. She graduated from Rehoboth Christian High School and is pursuing her Masters in Accounting at Grand Canyon University. Her favorite sports are basketball, volleyball, and softball. She has tons of experience volunteering and organizing events, including Canyon Christmas Cares, Run to Fight Cancer, and Serve the City. She loves to help the community as best she can because she knows the challenges of succeeding towards your dreams.
Cody attends San Juan College and is working towards his Associates in Secondary Education. He enjoys creating art in the many forms it comes in: drawing, written, spoken. This is his first summer with SYC!
Kevina is from Churchrock, NM. She graduated from Wingate High School and attended ITT Tech in Phoenix. She loves to travel and see the scenery of the mountains and landscapes. She also enjoys playing the guitar and learning new things.
Claire taught on Navajo Nation for three years. A Speech and Language Pathologist in Denver, she loves to visit her friends in New Mexico as much as she can. She is looking forward to the third season of camp!
