Camp has begun! Campers arrived on Monday and our counselors greeted them with activities, songs, and games. It was a very sunny day! Campers and staff played a game of "Drip, Drip, Drop" to help everyone cool off.
Our youngest campers have renamed their group the "Super Awesomes." They are small, but mighty! These campers have shown their willingness to take on challenges by independently deciding to add complexity to activities. They have also been known to make some very funny noises during games of "Simon Says."
Our middle group has named themselves "Team Fun!" They have a big presence around camp and bring a lot of energy to all that they do. As silly as they can be, this group also has shown great capacity for reflection. With their counselors, they have had some wonderful debriefing conversations.
Our oldest campers have given themselves a name made from all of their initials. This group has really come together as a team. Whether it is working together to "Cross the River," a team challenge involving stepping stones, or creating their own versions of games, this group has demonstrated impressive inclusivity.
A highlight from the first few days was the discovery of baby rabbits during a nature scavenger hunt. The campers were thrilled and intrigued by the newborn rabbits and took great care to keep them safe.
This week, campers are participating in a variety of activities including soccer, basketball, nature explorers, pillow making, friendship bracelets, and painting. As counselors lead campers in these activities, we have been again impressed by the amazing talents, intuition, and energy of our staff members. It can be a busy job to keep up with our campers and the counselors have been doing it beautifully. We are so appreciative of their hard work!
